A. Discipline

Along with the right to an education, the student has a corresponding responsibility to co-operate fully with all persons employed by the school Management and other persons who have been assigned responsibilities with respect to the service provided by the school management. Students are expected to be diligent in their studies conform to the rules of the school, and submit to such discipline as would be exercised by a kind, firm and judicious parent.

Parent’s / guardians are obliged to give good example of gentle behaviour to their wards by respecting school management, staff and other employees of the institution. Unbecoming and unruly behaviour of the parents/ guardians will result in the suspension or dismissal of their wards.

Parents may be asked to attend interview regarding disciplinary problems of their wards.
The aim of the school is to develop within the student a sense of self-discipline. The true meaning of discipline is training of mind and character.

Irregular attendance, unjustified or unexplained absence, habitual late coming, disobedience or objectionable behaviour of any kind may result in removal of a student from school.
Children are held responsible for unnecessary or willful damage to school property. A flat payment will be charged to help offset the cost of repairs or replacement as necessary.
No student is permitted to leave the school premises except on the strength of a letter of authorization from his / her guardian,
Pupils are responsible for the safe custody of their books and belongings. Each article should be marked with the pupil’s name. No jewellery is to be worn in the School, no cell phone, electronic gadgets and valuables are permitted in the School, If found will be confiscated and will not be returned.
Every child attending the school is obliged to take part in drills, games and other activities (except those who are physically unfit.)
Students shall speak English at all time in the school premises without exception.
Smoking, Chewing pan, Chewing gum, betel-nut or tobacco etc. are strictly forbidden within the school precinct.
On the 3rd Friday of every month from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. parents are encouraged to visit the School and discuss with the teachers matters regarding their wards.

B. Punctuality, Absence and Sickness

Students must be in school well in time to be ready for the morning Assembly. The school gate will be closed 10 minutes before the assembly, and students who come late will not be allowed to attend school for that day. Students living outside city limits may be given special consideration.
Absence from class: Staying away from school without leave is not tolerated except when the case is sudden illness or unforeseen circumstance. No leave of absence is given nor is a student allowed to go away from the school during school hours without a written application from the guardians stating the reason which must be a serious one. Whenever leave has been sanctioned, the fact should be recorded in the Regularity Record of the School Calendar.Absence without leave is liable to punishment either with fine or in any other form. After an absence from class, pupils must bring the reason duly entered in the Regularity Record stating briefly the cause of the absence or delay.
Name of pupils who have been absent from school for 15 days and more without permission are liable to be struck off the rolls and may not be readmitted.
Medical certificate is necessary in case of sickness for over three days.
Two weeks quarantine period must be observed for whooping Cough, Chicken pox, Measles and Mumps. Students inflicted by the infectious diseases or exposed to such diseases in their homes must complete the quarantine period before rejoining school. This should be indicated in the Medical Certificate.
 
IMPORTANT
 
If your child is sick you must inform the school authority within three days of absence and on his / her return to school:
Get a Doctor’s Medical Certificate.
Enter the sick leave in the Regularity Record of your ward’s School Calendar.
Submit the above mentioned to the Office or else the other rules of the absence will be considered.
   
Parents and guardians are requested to co-operate with the school authorities by urging their wards to regular and punctual attendance and punctilious about manner and speech. Implicit obedience to the school rules and regulations is an essential condition for continuance on the school roll.
  By not engaging private tutors without consulting the school authority. It is the policy of the school as a rule to discourage tuitions as they may prove injurious to the real progress of the pupils.
  By insisting that their wards are diligent at their home works and lessons.
By insisting on neatness and cleanliness of their text book, exercise books and personal appearance, by occasionally interviewing the Principal about the progress of the children.
   
All communications should be addressed to the Principal.
Any change of address should be notified immediately.
Identity card should be produced by Parents / Guardians in the office for any reason while taking their wards from school
   

VI. VACATION

During the school year there will be vacations as specified in the school calendar. These vacations are not to be extended or anticipated. Attendance is compulsory on the opening day after each vacation. Students who do not abide by this rule expose themselves to disciplinary action. Those who are absent on the opening day after each vocation will be fined.

VII. ACCIDENTS

In the event of an accident, several courses of action may be taken depending upon the seriousness of the accident. Scrapes and scratches, or any injury that can be treated with ointment and a band aid, will be dealt with at the school. Reasonable care is taken by the school for the children in the school premises. But the school authorities shall not be held responsible for accidents and other eventualities which are beyond their control.

VIII. FEES

Fees should be deposited in St. Joseph’s School, Pakartalla, Kahalgaon, from 5th to 20th of every month on working days. Fees for January and February should be paid together in January.
The fees cover twelve calendar months and may be paid in monthly installment or in advance. No reduction is made for holiday and broken period. Pupils are liable to be charged full fees as long as their names are officially on the rolls. Fees are to be paid in advance before the 20th of each month failing which a late fee Rs. 10/- will be levied.
Pupils whose fees are overdue for three months will be debarred from sitting for examinations and are liable to have their names struck off the rolls.
Fees for holidays: month of summer, Puja and Christmas should be paid in advance before the school closes.
One full calendar month’s notice in writing must be given or a month’s fee paid in lieu of notice before a pupil may be withdrawn from the school. This applies to bus fee also.
If no notice is given the child’s name will be kept on the rolls for two months after which the name will be struck off as a defaulter and will not readmitted again unless previous dues are paid with a fine.
Fee defaulters will not be allowed to appear for the Annual Examination.
The school reserves the right to enhance fees at any time if it is necessary for meeting rising costs and for payment of higher salaries.
Those who fail to clear the fees for 3 months and more will have to pay a late fee Rs. 25.00 per month

IX.   CONVEYANCE

Transportation for school children is arranged by the school for those residing in the town area. The school bus runs through the main roads and halts at fixed places. Arrangement therefore must be made by the guardians to bring the children to the bus stop and take them back home.
Conveyance fee is charged according to distance and are to be paid monthly along with tuition fees. Fee of an entire month will be charged even for partial use of the conveyance in any month.
The school bus service is directly under the control of the principal. Any suggestion or complaint may be made only to the Principal and not to the bus staff.
No student is allowed to change the assigned bus or trip without proper permission.
Students must bring their bus pass daily.
Students who want to discontinue the use of the school bus should inform the school authorities at least one month in advance. But bus facility cannot be cancelled after the Half-Yearly examination. In case of cancellation, remaining month’s fee will be charged.
Conveyance facility may be withdrawn for disciplinary reasons.
